My bright home schooled teenagers were not happy with their SAT technical writing scores. They had studied grammar, but just hadn't gotten it. I started looking at other books to use, and found them just too easy. My old 1903 edition was still on my shelf, intact and complete. Even though these new printings had missing pages, my book has them all, so I bought the books. WOW! The kids are proud to be studying Advanced Grammar and the sentences and exercises are challenging. They contain great quotes from famous authors, so their reality makes the kids read and enjoy. Sometimes we just take time to discuss the sentences. And yes, working through the book, page by page, and exercise by exercise is time consuming, but makes for great homework. Books with meat matter more than the dumb downed stuff on the market and used in schools today. I so appreciate the reprinting of the best grammar book ever written!
