I thoroughly enjoyed reading an advance reader's copy of this book! (Congrats to Mary Freeman on having very little to correct in the ARC :-D )No Ordinary Life revolves around the years-long friendship between two businesswomen, one a traveling British sales rep and one a Philippine office manager in a modern Arab country (pardon my memory, I think it's Dubai), and about the extraordinary life Elvie, the Philippine office manager, had led. In Elvie we find an admirable and sympathetic protagonist, and although it's been a year since I read this book, her unforgettable grace still walks with me. Elvie is flexible and resilient, adventurous and practical, all while staying true to her core principles. She sets a great example for all of us.
Apart from Elvie and the other characters (all well developed) I especially enjoyed the international aspect of this book and its descriptions of Philippine and modern Arab cultures.
